Leadership communication plays a crucial role in shaping employee morale, motivation, and overall organizational performance. Effective communication fosters trust, clarity, and engagement, while poor communication can lead to dissatisfaction, reduced productivity, and high turnover (Men & Yue, 2024). Leadership communication is especially important in industries like cement manufacturing, where operational efficiency and workforce motivation directly impact business outcomes.
Lafarge Africa Plc, a major player in Nigeria’s cement industry, operates in a competitive and capital-intensive sector that demands high levels of efficiency and employee commitment. Leaders in the company are expected to communicate strategic objectives, provide feedback, and maintain an open communication culture to ensure high employee morale. However, communication breakdowns, misinformation, and leadership detachment can negatively affect employee motivation and performance (Oluwaseun et al., 2023).
While several studies highlight the importance of leadership communication, there is limited research on its direct effect on employee morale in manufacturing firms, particularly Lafarge Africa Plc in Kwara State. This study critically reviews the relationship between leadership communication and employee morale, examining key communication strategies and their effectiveness in maintaining a motivated workforce.
Employee morale is a critical factor in organizational success, yet many firms struggle with effective leadership communication. In Lafarge Africa Plc, unclear communication, lack of feedback, and ineffective information dissemination can create frustration among employees, reducing engagement and performance (Adeyemi & Ojo, 2023).
The problem is that leadership communication in Lafarge Africa Plc has not been systematically studied in relation to employee morale. Without a clear understanding of this relationship, the company may fail to implement communication strategies that enhance workforce motivation. This study aims to evaluate how leadership communication affects employee morale in Lafarge Africa Plc, Kwara State.
The study will focus on leadership communication practices at Lafarge Africa Plc, Kwara State, assessing their impact on employee morale. Limitations include variations in communication styles across management levels and potential reluctance of employees to provide honest feedback.
